Pure Land Jiu Jitsu Academy is much more then a martial art studio, its a place where true learning and understanding takes place. We believe that we have a very unique approach to teaching both judo and jiu-jitsu as one complete style of grappling. Our classes are based on concepts and training methods that are rooted in sports science and competition tested. With over 15 years of experience in grappling, we have a lot of experience on figuring out the best ways to share techniques with any belt level. We pride ourselves in our unique ability to explain complex movements to ages and belt levels using movement drills that are uniquely design to students in the understanding of the movement but also gives the student something that he or she can take home and work before the next class. We also believe that the most important thing about taking classes with us is that the student understand the “why” behind the techniques. We believe the “why” will deepen the student understanding and will push the student into a more scholarly study into the techniques that are being taught thus, the student will begin creating new techniques base on solid understanding of the basics. Often times, we see students coming from other academies that may know some techniques and can perform the techniques when ask. However, this is a very mechanical way of learning Judo and Jiu Jitsu and takes more time to learn in this manner then to take the time in the beginning to understand the very fundamentals. That is way Pure Land Jiu Jitsu Academy has the Fundamentals to Judo and Jiu Jitsu courses. This class is design with the basics of Judo and Jiu Jitsu in mind. In 60 weeks we go the very basics of Judo and Jiu Jitsu and breakdown every position we teach. Students are expected to lots questions and make lots and lots of mistakes. The mistakes that all students will make allow the student to find out, real time, what works best for their particular size and shape . Lastly we believe in our 3-4 concept. That is: Dedication, Discipline, and Respect - love, peace, unity, and having fun.
